Clean Sweep

Sun has set on the DMK horizon today. It is a decisive mandate, landslide victory, or whatever you call. The reasons are

1. Nepotism: Omnipresence of one family from World Classical Tamil Conference to Parliament of India

2. Institutionalized Corruption: TV channels, radio channels, newspapers, cinema… one family controlled everything. Those shameless “Kalai Vizha” where they force everyone in Tamil Film industry forced to attend, sing, dance, and appreciate Karunanidhi at the end… No such celebrations were made once actor Ajith Kumar proclaimed on stage before everyone that they were forced to do this. Rajinikanth stood up and clapped for Ajith’s speech. Kalaingar TV smartly edited that part and ran it. Most lead actors were forced to work in one of the family production projects. They also determined when to release a movie and in what locations. Actor Vijay’s struggled to release his movie as they wanted to wait for a movie that had story and screenplay by Karunanidhi. Apparently 50 lakhs were given to him for that and movie was even received well by his own party members that it ran for a day or two. Who pays 50 lakhs for such a movie? Who were they trying to fool?

3. Sri Lankan Tamils: Turning a blind eye to this issue and had actually mocked by staging a “fast”. This stunt fast made into record books as being the shortest in world history. UN has recently confirmed the human rights violations and mass killings. The worst is in spite of having a strong command in UPA led government, he hardly raised his voice when Sri Lankan army killed Indian fishermen.

4. Common man: Horrible power-cuts, price rise of basic commodities, bad state of law and order, confused with the twisted news on different channels, and many more

5. 2G Spectrum: This has brought all the other issues mentioned above to limelight.

6. Praveen Kumar: Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu state did a tremendous job in confiscating bundles and bundles of money transported by various means – police jeeps, ambulances, and private buses. His stringent adherence to the rules and implementing state-of-art measure to nip malpractices made 78% voters and zero violence.

I predict arrest of Kanimozhi by CBI, UPA leaving DMK, acrimonious family fights in public (Sun TV is already showing celebrations in Poes Garden for hours together), split in DMK… all said the big question now is what change can Jayalalitha bring?
